A Hip Chicks Guide to Your First Garden
Congratulations on planning your first garden! Follow my advice covering from where to get your veg seeds, to the end when you should pluck your first tomato. You will surely enjoy the fruits of your labor that your first garden will bring you.
Veg seeds (otherwise known as vegetable seeds) are available from a variety of places. I prefer to purchase them online from a seed supplier because it is typically cheaper and the quality of the seeds is higher. Good seeds will give you strong healthy plants. Start with some strong and easy plants. Beans and squash are good beginner plants along with tomato and strawberries.
Use good black dirt to plant your seeds in. Draw a diagram on paper and mark rows so you know what you planted and where. You would be very frustrated if you were looking for a carrot in a pepper patch. Weed your garden often and always make sure there is enough water and light.
Seed packages will usually tell you how many weeks to harvest. It is ok to use a little instinct on the right time harvest. It is always better to harvest a little too early rather than too late. Plants harvested too late and go bad or lose their taste.
How Big a Pond Do I Need
Selecting the right pond pump is always a tedious task as majority of people do not know that on what basis one must select the pump. Going for a brand name or the best deals does not constitute the right choice. Instead you must make an informed and sound decision while buying a pond pump.
The first and foremost thing to find out is the volume of the pond. Once you have got the volume multiply it by 7.48 and you have got the measurement in gallons. The ideal measure of a pond is 500 gallons or more in which case you need a pump which turns half of the water within an hour. However, if you have less than 500 gallons of water tryout a pump with the capacity to flow the full depth within an hour. There are pond pumps which work on electricity and solar energy. If you want a lower capacity then opt for a solar pond pump as it is eco friendly and eases the burden off your pockets. Also before buying the pond pumps decide whether you want it outdoors or submerged and if you are opting for the external pumps then be ready with a convincing camouflage.
Vote for Best String Trimmer
A bunch of my friends were discussing which was the best string trimmer to use on the vacant lot at the edge of town. We had all volunteered to help clear out the lot and make it into a nice place for the kids to play and the local hardware store was allowing us to use their rental tools for free. I thought that it would be better to have a versatile trimmer in order to manage the varied thickness of the plants that had grown there over the years. Several of the other men had different ideas. Instead of arguing about it, we decided to put it to a vote. A few of the men were unsure and wanted to see a demonstration of each string trimmer. In the end, the string trimmer that I chose did a better job without as much breakage of the string as the others had, so that is the model that we used to clear the lot.
I Love My House, but I’d Like to Make Some Changes
It is 2011. We are a modern family living in a house that was constructed in the 1870s. Ours is a fantastic house complete with a wonderful garden with its garden gazebo. In the house, the first floor has 10-foot ceilings, high windows, and an arched doorway leading to the kitchen. In the upstairs, the hardwood baseboards and doors were never painted, giving the rooms an antique warmth. The finished attic – my artistic home away from home – overlooks the main street in our town.
However, our fantastic house is not without drawbacks. Overall, despite some improvements – and I use that term loosely – made by the previous owners, its setup is not particularly well adapted to modern living. The long, relatively narrow living room has exactly one workable location for the television (what were those 1870s people thinking?!) The kitchen, last remodeled in the 1960s, does not feature the most efficient distribution of plumbing or appliance locations, has ancient and stained metal cabinets, and is on the whole much too small. The hardwood stairs installed in the 1960s are beautiful, but the iron railing, painted white and gold, is not particularly complimentary to the architecture.
Oh, and by the way: our house did not have a indoor plumbing until 1964. How do we know this? Fourteen years ago, when we moved in, we found the name of the paperhanger – who was in fact the elderly man living next door – written on the plaster wall underneath the peeling wallpaper. He informed us that he’d done the work after they’d enclosed the second floor porch and moved the back bedroom over five feet to make room for this miracle of modern living. Neither bedroom nor bathroom have been remodeled since. The bedroom, which serves as the master bedroom, was finished using what is quite possibly the cheapest drywall known to man; the plasterwork is second-rate; and the floor is uneven.
The bathroom has been shedding tiles for years, first from the shower wall and now from the floor. Along with the peeling wallpaper, there is the matter of the drop-ceiling, also dating to 1964 (ew), and the notable lack of cabinets or closets. In fact, there is exactly one closet that serves the entire house. Well, two, if you count the stairwell to the attic. I suppose that you could call the attic a closet too, if a closet can contain a usable daybed, a drafting table, two sewing machines, a load of art supplies, and all of my fabric. What would I change about this house, which I love? I would put an addition on the back, to include an extension of the kitchen and possibly a sunroom; I would rip out the kitchen, re-plaster, remove the drop-ceiling (ew) and fluorescent light banks; rewire and move the appliances; replace the cabinets and add more counter space. I would create an upstairs workshop for my husband and studio space for myself – maybe in the same room on the second floor – and then we could actually use the attic for storage! I would remodel the bathroom completely (since it has started ripping itself out already). I would replace the drywall in the bedroom and enlarge the bedroom and put in a walk-in cedar closet . And then, I’m sure, the plaster ceiling in the living room would fall down…

About Lawn Sweepers
Lawn sweeper is a machine, which removes debris, leaves and litters from garden mechanically. These machines are basically available in three categories namely push, powered and tow Lawn sweepers. The first category of sweepers is powered by hand using a forward push thereby making the brush underneath rotate using the power from wheels. The second category sweepers are powered by gasoline or electric motor. The tow sweepers are largely used for gardens by towing such sweepers to a tractor or an all terrain vehicle. There machines have replaced the usage of certain other machines which were used for a long time in gardens like leaf blowers and garden vacuums. Another interesting stuff about these sweepers is that such machines are in use since early 1950s. Now there are many companies in the market offering such machines in many different models in order to satisfy the taste of its customers and there are many sweepers for different sizes of lawns and gardens available these days at an affordable price to keep our lawns and gardens neat, clean and litter free.
How to Deal with Orchid Yellow Leaves
Orchid yellow leaves are one of the best indicators that we need to exert more time and effort in taking care of our plant. There are several reasons why this can occur. Thus, o determine the most appropriate way to solve this problem is to identify the main cause of the problem first.
Orchid yellow leaves may be caused by any of the following: fungal infection, too much exposure to sunlight, too much water, or inappropriate temperature. One of the ways to identify the cause is to look for other signs on other parts of the plant. For instance, if the cause is too much water, one can see signs of molds or rotting on the roots as well.
Once the main cause has been identified, it will be easy to apply the appropriate treatment. Once should not worry about seeing orchid yellow leaves because this is one of the most common issues that orchid growers will face. What’s important is that the issue has to be addressed immediately in order to prevent other complications or issues.
