Traveling and Romance in Punta Cana
This time at the spa, we decided to have our treatments in other rooms. Our friend was very thoughtful to give us these one year anniversary gifts. I wonder why they chose this for our first anniversary gifts. My friend who own the spas sells lots of spa gift certificates for birthdays, bachlorette parties, showers and anniversaries. I was thinking of buying some presents for girlfriendsand so maybe I should just buy some gift certificates as his spa. I also needed mens gift ideas.
We decided to take a trip to the Dominican Republic and we went to the very fancy and the very expensive resort area of Punta Cana. Punta Cana has become a major tourist destination in the last few years and there are tons of expensive resorts to stay in. My friend owns an apartment in Punta Cana and he was so generous to offer it that we decided to take him up on his offer to stay at his very nice condo in Punta Cana. He had bought the properties a few years ago and so my friend and his wife would travel to Punta Cana about 5 times a year. It is only a few hours away with a direct flight so you can fly out in the morning and be on the beach that same afternoon. There are lots of people that live on he east coast that fly to Punta Cana every season.
At my friend’s apartment there were two bedrooms and in the bedroom I was staying in there was a tv with a DVD player so we got to watch lots of movies there. His apartment was a five minute walk to the beach and there was a little grocery store there. There was also a New York style bakery there with lots of yummy croissants and pastries. I think they also had bagels as well. We would get fresh fruit smoothies every day at the bakery that was near the condo. I loved the fresh fruit that we picked out at the local market every day. We had fresh mangoes and fresh papaya and juicy pineapples as well a big red tomatoes and big green cucumbers. There were not a lot of food options at the local grocery store so we used to make burritos with fresh salsa almost every night. The restaurants in Punta Cana were very expensive and not very close so you had to take a taxi there which made it even more expensive so we only ate out one meal. The first night we were there we went to a very nice restaurant which I think was called jellyfish and after being there for fifteen minutes the electricity went out. Part of the deal with going to the restaurant was that the taxi was free. We were not able to order most things with a blackout and we had no way to call a taxi cab so we just had to wait there. It was quite an adventure. So the only thing we were able to order was a seafood salad which was not very good and so we ate it anyway with some stale bread because we were hungry and kind of trapped at the restaurant and the shops were already closed. Since we only ordered salads they said that they taxi would not be free. So then they started to tell us we had to pay for the taxi cab. We told them that that wasn’t not fair since we only could order salad because of the blackout and there was no electricity or no lights to help us see the food to cook or the food to eat. We ended up negotiating with them and they ended up driving us back to the apartment. It would have been very unfair if they did make us pay for it.

Last week I visited my friends in SOMA district of San Francisco. For those of you who haven’t been to SF, it’s a hilly city with dozens of hills all around. So, parking in the city brings unique challenges. My friends live in an apartment which is on a downhill. We both took the permit practice test together a year back, and since then we both are driving cars. But it was striking to find out how much better his driving is as compared to mine. I literally had lost the control of the car until I realized how to park on a downhill. Basically I had to move my tires facing towards the inside of the curb to prevent it from rolling downhill. My friend patted me on the back after we got out of the car. I first thought it was a compliment, but then I realized his way of saying “welcome to San Francisco way of drivng and parking the car”.

Grandeur and Elegance in the Beach
Upon seeing the list of the new 7 wonders of the world, my friend John and I discussed about the most beautiful places we visited. He went first by saying Mount Fuji in Japan. He said that the mountain is extremely beautiful because of its snow cap and it’s almost perfect cone shape.
His family went to Japan last year for vacation trip for a week. He added that the weather there is cool and the natural view is just terrific! When it was my turn to say my answer, I didn’t hesitate to say the coastal beach where my family and I went last year. It is the long and white coast of Costa Blanca beaches. It was truly a memorable experience for me and my family because this place gives us different avenue according to our interest. My sister loves to stay under the sun so enjoyed the radiance of the sun there.
