What Is A Mortise Lock
People often wonder what a Mortise lock is. For starters, it is one of the many types of locking devices, having large and rectangular bodies that fit into a pocket with a similar shape, and is carved on to the edge of a door. The body, mostly have all the parts that are necessary for the lock to work, such as the knobs, handles, and etc. If a door has a mortise lock, you’ll be able to see a solid metal plate that is screwed tight in place of the frame. Within that plate, you’ll see an opening and a thick, steel bolt, that is able to slight into the opening whenever it is turned by the use of a key, and this is its locking device.
